Lisa began playing traditional Irish fiddle at 10 years of age. She is a holder of the much coveted Senior All-Ireland Fiddle Champion title, wining the prestigious award in 2010. In 2014 she graduated from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick with a First Class Honours (1.1) Masters Degree (MA) in Irish Traditional Music Performance.
Lisa comes from a family steeped in Traditional Irish Music – her grandparents on both sides played the fiddle, flute, and mouth organ. Today, all four of her sisters are very much involved in the music scene and together have won numerous All Ireland titles. Alongside her sisters, Lisa performs regularly in the group ‘The Ward Sisters’, who perform an array of Irish Traditional Music and Sean Nos Dance.
Lisa completed all SCT traditional music exams achieving four out of four distinctions in the final exam. An accomplished tin whistle and flute player, as well as a classical pianist, Lisa obtained Distinction in Grade 8 and a Permanent TSB High Achiever Award.
Lisa has performed extensively in Ireland and abroad, performing alongside Donal Lunny, Seamus Beagley, John Carty, Brian McGrath and Paul Meehan. She previously performed at Dublin Castle and the Return to Camden Festival, London. Alongside the Ward Sisters, Lisa performed at the Ballyshannon Folk Festival this year.
Lisa graduated from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick with a Bachelor of Education Degree with Music, and an Award for Excellence in Music. (2012) She has a Diploma in Nutrition and trained to achieve the highest accreditation as an ITEC Make up Artist. (2016)
Today Lisa is a fully qualified Primary Teacher and holds a permanent post with the Department of Education and Skills.
